Rodgers Fishing Lodge
We are very pleased to welcome Shawn Nagurny to our Rodgers management team. Shawn has been active in the Sportsfishing community for the past 14 years. He was formerly in Marketing and Business Development with Shearwater Resort and prior to that he was the GM of St Johns Fishing Lodge. He is currently a Director of the Sports Fishing Institute of BC and he has a stellar and respected reputation within our industry. He will be bringing with him a wealth of practical hands on experience to our operation. Shawn will be our new General Manager and our Director of Marketing. During the season he will be in charge of the day to day operations of Rodgers. Pam and I feel that Shawn will add a whole new dimension to our business and we are eagerly looking forward to working with him over the coming months.
Also, for the 2016 season, we are going to be making several U drive or Self Guided Boats available for our guests for the first time. We have had many requests from guests that would like the opportunity to fish on their own, out of one of our boats. Therefore, for the 2016 season we are going to make this option available. All of our Self Guided boats are 22' to 24' Pursuits, Prolines or Grady Whites. Check out our home page under Self Guided Boats for pricing and more information on this new fishing option.
Last season there were times, when we were just overwhelmed with the numbers of fish on our docks and our vacuum packers had trouble keeping up with the demand. So, for the 2016 season, we will be adding another vacuum packing machine and expanding our vacuum packing facility. We will also be adding another high capacity flake ice machine for the 2016 season. Also, new for next season, will be the opening of our long overdue Tyee Bar which will be serving our guests a full range of liquors, beers and wines.
James Erasmus will be returning to our Tahsis Marine Center as our head mechanic. James is a certified Yamaha, Suzuki, Evinrude and Mercury mechanic.
With the strongest El Nino on record headed our way, we can expect to see the annual run of Albacore Tuna arriving earlier than usual in our waters. Last season we were catching Tuna the first week of August, so, we should have about a 6 week window of opportunity in 2016 to chase this elusive speeding target. Tuna often travel up to 80 to 100 miles a day and can reach speeds of up to 50 miles an hour, so it is a daily search and seek mission every day to find them. Once found, the fishing can be fast and furious and as many fishermen have told us it is the most exciting thing you can do with your pants on. This is a very popular fishery, so, start making plans to participate in this exciting fishery.
