This same time in 2013 was the most productive week of June for tyees. The week of June 21 to 28, 2013 saw 23 tyees caught, not to mention those that got away, including 3 over 40, 2 over 50 and 1 over 60. Fishing doesn't get much better than this!
June 2013 was one of the best early season fisheries we have seen in years. As predicted, June 2014 has followed suit and we couldn't have asked for a better start to the season as the fishing has been amazing. There are lots of Chinooks in the 15 to 25 pound range being caught, a good number of tyees, and the Cohos arrived about a week ago and are up to their usual exciting acrobatic antics. The largest Chinook so far remains a 54 pounder caught off Gunia Point, however all of the guides are determined to change that.
In regards to the state of the fishing up on Langara Island right now, Clubhouse head guide Screamer said it best in this mornings update, "The bait has finally arrived and with it plenty of Humpbacks as well. Whales and bait, that is the recipe for big fishing....Saturday looks awesome, South winds, and that is when I suspect a massive run of Chinook will be in here. Until next time, see you soon and we are now on them!"
