TruFishing™ will measure the parameters of every catch
Cast Further LLC announced the planned launch of its TruFishing™ digital fishing system into the $46 billion recreational fishing market. This will be the first market entry for Cast Further, an award-winning start-up enterprise led by entrepreneurs and experts in digital technology, engineering and marketing.
TruFishing™ is a system of digitally connected devices and a mobile app which will allow anglers to instantly measure all aspects of a catch as well as film a voice-activated video while landing the fish for online sharing through social media.
The TruFishing™ system components simply attach to a fisherman’s existing equipment, making it easy for any angler to participate in interactive fishing. All aspects of the catch are recorded for private record keeping by changing opportunities for people to compete globally, or just share their experiences on a number of different data points that they choose to monitor.
“The TruFishing™ system is not only revolutionary because of the way it will function, but it will be an incredibly fun and entertaining new way to fish with others,” according to chief marketing officer Sandy Ghezzi, Cast Further. “To ensure our success, we’re taking input from trusted fishing and technology communities that align with our overall mission.”
TruFishing™ will contribute toward global conservation efforts because it encourages catch-and-release fishing, thereby eliminating the need to bring fish back to the dock to be weighed. Further, because the TruFishing™ system will be based on digital technology, which is also a strong interest of youths, educational institutions will be encouraged to promote fishing as part of an active, healthy lifestyle for children.
The company is asking anglers and technology fans worldwide to contribute to the launch through a Kickstarter PBC crowd-fundraising campaign that encourages supporters to get involved and help refine product features during the final development phase of what will be the next generation of fishing.
Fishing is one of the most popular outdoor recreational activities domestically, generating over $115 billion in economic impact and employing over 828,000 people. At $46 billion in annual retail sales, recreational sport fishing is larger than golf and tennis combined, according to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in the National Survey of Fishing, Hunting, and Wildlife-Associated Recreation in 2011, the latest data period. Nearly 40 million licensed anglers in the US purchased $15 billion in fishing equipment. Over 60 million people in the US reported that they fished within the past five years and consider themselves anglers.
