The 9th Annual Elk Lake Derby is approaching! It takes place on April 11, 2015. Tickets are available at the store. Adults are $25 and juniors are $10.
Derby Rules:
All entrants must hold a valid fishing license (where necessary), and all entrants must abide by federal, provincial, regional and municipal laws.
A parent or guardian must accompany Junior Derby entrants under 16, and all junior entrants must have a waiver form signed by a parent or guardian.
The Derby start time is dawn on Saturday. The Derby will end at 3:00 PST on Saturday. Derby boundaries are the waters within Elk and Beaver Lakes only.
Prizes will be awarded at 3:05 pm on Saturday at the event headquarters at the Elk Lake Eagle Beach Park (by the Rowing Club). One fishing rod per Derby Ticket, one fish prize per ticket. In the event of a tie, first fish weighed in wins. Prizes must be accepted as awarded. Live released fish entries are eligible for the $1000 species prizes.
If requested entrants must show their derby ticket and fishing license to an event official during the derby. The Elk Lake Fishing Derby Executive may disqualify any contestant where they see fit, and the decisions and rulings of the Elk Lake Fishing Derby Executive are final.
Ethics:
Catch & Release - The Elk Lake Fishing Derby supports and encourages catch & release angling. This derby has live release weigh boats & weigh-station located strategically on the lake. (see map)
Be Considerate - Please be courteous to other anglers & lake users while you are on the lake.
Safety First - The lake will have a significant amount of boating traffic. You must exercise extreme caution while travelling around other boats as well as people fishing from float boats. Please make sure that you have all the proper safety equipment.
No Intoxicants - It is illegal to boat under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The authorities have been invited to be on the lake during the event.
