The July fishing season is well underway here at Shearwater, and the fish catch is stacking up on the dock.
Over this past week we have seen a new run of fish roll through ranging in the high teens to thirty pound class! They may not have been monsters but the action has been non-stop!
Cheney Point has been the go to place for this trip, fishing at depths of 80 to 90 feet.
Spoonman (Mike Hall) and our guests David and John stole the show this weekend, putting on a two day Chinook catching clinic right off of the point!
There lures of choice were chrome spoons, and green flashers with a long 5' leader trailing smaller painted spoons.
July has brought in some awesome fishing weather! High overcast skies paired up with light winds which has made for calm seas for our boats to get out to the Best Hali grounds of their choice.
Nice sized Hali's have hit the dock averaging in the 30-50 pound range with reports from the guides of releasing fish in the 80-90 pound range. Those catches are good for some sore arms and one heck of a fish story!
Most Chinook for this trip were all in the low to mid 20's perfect for eating and the feisty chrome Coho have been literally jumping into the boats, averaging between 12-14 pounds!
If you are still hoping to get a chance to fish in one of the hottest fishing grounds on the West Coast, check out this link to our Special Deals section on our website for great deals on some last minute cancellation trips.
