Kaslo Derby 2012 Winner

Kaslo Rainbow Derby was held Nov. 9, 10, & 11 (Remembrance Day Weekend) on Kootenay Lake. The fish weighed 19lbs 10oz, the angler is Jason Ozeroff from South Slocan BC. He won $4,320.00, 2nd place won $2,592.00 and 3rd place won $1,728.00. We promote catch and release, so there was a total of only 6 fish brought in over the whole weekend. Prizes are 1st – 50%, 2nd – 30% & 3rd – 20%, less expenses. There was another $10,000.00 in prizes given away from local sponsors. There derby helps support the local economy in such a small rural area, bringing in business to gas stations, gift shop, restaurants & accommodations. The next Kaslo Rainbow Derby will be held on Nov. 8, 9, & 10. The event is hosted by Barren’s Sport Shop & the Kaslo Hotel.
