Looking for tips on steelheading? Deneki Outdoors has some advice from Kara Knight, lodge manager at B.C. West on the Dean River. Here are the 4 tips below:
Think Trout.
Steelhead is still a trout, they will hold in the same lies that provide a break from the current that trout would call home.
Trust Your Gut.
Have confidence that the fish are out there. The important thing above all else is getting your fly in front of the fish. Don't keep changing flies and sink tips on every unanswered swing as this will only cut down on the amount of time your fly is in the water.
Fish Close First.
Never underestimate a first short cast because fish can hold tight to the bank.
Take a Casting Lesson.
