Vote for #11: Community Fishers App - Voting closes Friday, May 1!
We're in second place, and we need your help! The "Community Fishers" app is a mobile app created in partnership with Ocean Networks Canada (ONC) for the Salish Sea Marine Survival Project. The app has been nominated for the World Ocean's Summit Innovation Challenge. You can cast your vote for #11, the Community Fishers app here.
The app streamlines data collected by volunteer boaters to ONC's database. Canada has one of the longest coastlines in the world, yet owns and maintains only a handful of dedicated research vessels to monitor this vast region. By engaging volunteers in oceanographic monitoring, we can continue to monitor disparate coastal regions at a relatively low-cost and measure the impacts on salmon. This app will help ensure we are receiving precise and reliable data, collected in real-time. You can vote here or watch the video to learn more.
