Salish Sea Marine Survival Project
Pacific Salmon Foundation
We are happy to announce that the 2015 federal budget brought a $2 million contribution for the Salish Sea Marine Survival Project. The federal budget brought more good news for fisheries with the extension of the federal Recreational Fisheries Conservation Partnerships Program (RFCPP) renewed at $10 million per year for three years. The program makes the funds available to conservation organizations that undertake a variety of projects to restore and protect recreational fisheries habitat.Since the program's inception, the Foundation has partnered with the Fisheries and Oceans Canada on several RFCPP projects. Ten large-scale habitat projects were completed through grants totalling $512,863 with the total value of these projects at $1.3 million when taking into account leveraging through in-kind contributions from other partners. These projects resulted in more than 340,000 square meters of restored habitat that will support recreational fisheries in British Columbia.
