This monster ling cod was caught April 26, eight miles off the shore of Tofino, BC, using a 6 oz Max Shad swimbait made by Lighthouse Lures. From left - Rob Frawley of Tofino Fishing, and Andrew Luch of Andrew's West Coast Adventures.

With ling cod open on the west coast and the days getting longer, before or after your salmon troll, why not find a pinnacle, rock pile, or some type of structure and drift over top of it with a swim bait. Simply drop to bottom, reel up 5-10 feet and drift. You can even leave your rod in the holder! Ling cod are very territorial fish - if they have a chance at a quick meal, they will take it.
