Testing Goodyear MTR's
Testing Goodyear MTR's and the new A.R.E Overland cap
By Perry Mack
You may have noticed that your issues of 4WD have grown larger recently. The good news is that not only will the magazine continue to be larger, but we are also adding two more issues and a new editor. Current subscribers and new subscribers (to the end of the year) will get the extra issues at no charge – Happy Holidays!
Our new editor, starting next issue, is Budd Stanley, a long time automotive/adventure editor and photojournalist who has contributed to many respected regional and national publications. We’re stoked to have him join the team and you’ll get a taste of what’s in store with his contribution to this issue – To the Mouth of Hell.
Since you’ve already got this issue in your hands, I’ll talk a bit more about what’s in store in the next issue. Once again I’ll represent Canada as an international judge for the New Products Showcase at SEMA 2013 – the largest industry-only aftermarket automotive show on the planet. 4WDrive was invited to be the media sponsor for the SEMA Daily News for the Trucks, SUV and Off-road section – I believe a Canadian first. Through the SEMA Daily News we will provide the expected 130,000 attendees and exhibitors with cutting edge product information each day of the show – naturally we will also be expounding the virtues of the Canadian 4x4 market and the savvy, talented and enthusiastic readers of 4WDrive. Look for daily show updates on our web site and Facebook page with in-depth coverage on new trends & products in the next issue.
Tires are stacked to the rafters in the warehouse and we have begun testing on the roads and trails, abusing the tires on different vehicles as well as terrain. Along with a selection of Jeep’s (and a Toyota Tundra and Nissan Pathfinder), our 2004 Ram 1500 project truck was sacrificed on the trail to Lebanon Lake, BC in late September to bring you accurate results for half-ton trucks – complete with bush pin-striping, damaged side-step and a broken lift block - an absolutely great day of wheeling. I have to report the new A.R.E. Overland Cap took a hell of a beating and came through it all unscathed.
Enjoy this issue and keep the emails, Facebook posts and photos coming, because there’s no road like off-road.
