Giving Tuesday
Georgia Strait Alliance
What will be your mantra this holiday season?
Georgia Strait Alliance (GSA) is proud to join hundreds of others as an official partner in GivingTuesday, the new Canadian movement for giving and volunteering.
Tuesday, December 3, 2013 is “Opening Day of the Giving Season”, a positive alternative to Black Friday and Cyber Monday – days which are all about consuming. GivingTuesday is a day on which charities, companies and individuals join together to share commitments, rally for favourite causes and think about others. We like the sound of that!
As a friend of GSA, we know you treasure the gifts a healthy ocean gives to the residents of the Georgia Strait region – gifts that benefit not only people, but the many species that share our waters, including the Southern Resident Killer Whale.
Right now, the health of each of us is threatened by potential increases in fossil fuel transport, the weakening of environmental laws, and the ongoing pollution of our waters. For 23 years, GSA has been standing up, right here in our own backyard, protecting coastal communities and keeping our waters free from oil spills from sources both large and small.
So this season, give yourself a gift by supporting GSA’s work. With your help we will deliver workshops for individuals wishing to make submissions to the National Energy Board hearings on the proposed expansion of the Kinder Morgan Pipeline, as well as furthering our Save the Salish Sea campaign and other initiatives to keep our Strait healthy for all its residents.
On GivingTuesday, please Give Where You Live – and join the thousands of Canadians choosing unbridled generosity this holiday season!
