God's Pocket Resort
God's Pocket Resort
Our season is all wrapped up and what a wonderful time we had this year!
At the Tacoma show last year we had a promotional offer for the 2013 spring season. It worked out very well for all involved. Our spring was filled solid with new people to God's Pocket.
God’s Pocket Resort is the only resident of beautiful Hurst Island, British Columbia, on the east (inside) of Vancouver Island, BC. Nestled in an enchanting cove off Christie Passage, 12 miles north of Port Hardy, we offer a tranquil setting in which to relax after a day of the best cold water scuba diving in the world.
The weather this year was unbelievable. In fact, we had so much sun that we ran out of water for 3 months. This has never happened in our past 15 years' experience. Our desalinator purred along without a glitch, so no one really noticed.
We're #2 on National Geographic's Bucket List!
We are pleasantly surprised to learn that National Geographic has voted diving the BC coast in general, and God's Pocket Resort in particular, #2 on their Ultimate Adventure Bucket List for next year. Read more about it on our News page.
So, what's new to God's Pocket for 2014? Well, lots!
Faster air filling. We now have two air compressors so we don't need to spend so much time pumping air. Of course, if we are going to run two air compressors we then need more power. This August we flew in a new generator to accommodate our speedy air filling. This should now make our generator usage go from 6 hours a day to 3 hours a day. A much less impact on our wonderful environment. We're super thrilled.
More hands on deck. As some of you already know, this year was also used to train two couples in the workings of God's Pocket. The idea was to be able to take as many bookings as we wanted without Annie and I getting exhausted. Well, it worked out famously. So next season we are going to be sharing the load with Lyle & Hanna and Sten & Tanya. Between the six of us we will easily be able to handle as many bookings as we can take.
Longer kayaking season. It's been a wonderful partnership. Sea Kayak Adventures sold to another larger company this year, and we welcome ROW into the fold. We had a meeting with the new owners and have given them not just July, but August as well as per their request. So if you are interested in diving in August next year, check in with us after March 31.
Our calendar is filling up very fast for 2014. Please visit our website at www.godspocket.com to view available dates. Substantial discounts to be had when putting a group of 12 together.
We look forward to seeing you next year.
