Cradled between the Trans-Canada Highway and the south shores of Shuswap Lake, Canoe is perfectly situated half way between Calgary and Vancouver - just five miles from neighbouring Salmon Arm. Canoe is surrounded by outstanding natural beauty, making tourism one of this cities fastest growing enterprises. The area has retained a unique rural quality that is reflected in the easy-going community - appealing to residents and visitors alike.
One of the big draws for visitors to Canoe is the access via boat to a convenience store and service shop, offering a full line of marine parts and on-site mechanic repairs. Randy’s Marine Services is located in Canoe, and with over 25 years of experience maintaining a variety of boats, Randy will have you back on the water in no time. If your boat is disabled, they provide a trailer service from the water to the shop, then back again!
The Canoe Public Beach, where you will find a great sandy beach, big shady trees, a concession, covered picnic tables, BBQ pits, bathrooms, a play area and change rooms, has been a long-time favourite for visitors as well as residents from neighbouring Salmon Arm. The lake maintains an average temperature of 21 degrees Celsius (70 Fahrenheit) from June to September, making it popular with swimmers and water adventurers.
The community of Canoe is actually comprised of much more than the splendid waterfront - visitors are also drawn to the variety of recreational activities it offers. The Canoe Village Market has the convenience of a large grocery store, a liquor agent, ATM and ice machines. Situated just opposite the government wharf - which was recently rebuilt - with day use and only 1 km from the public beach, this quaint market is a popular stop for everyone.
Make your family summer more fun! Club Shuswap Golf & RV is just a five-minute walk from the Canoe Wharf, and a five-minute drive from downtown Salmon Arm. It boasts an immaculately groomed, picturesque, family-oriented 18 hole executive course, that also includes another separate nine hole course. The entire 27 holes are licensed and served by a hospitality cart.
