Torqueedo Cruise 2.0-4.0 Fixed Pod

After announcing its new 20-hp-equivalent electric motor, the Cruise 10.0, Torqeedo said it launched several new drive systems.
The first Cruise Fixed Pod motors offer sailors and powerboat enthusiasts pod drives with Torqeedo’s technology.
The company said the models deliver thrust with the performance equivalent of a 5-, 8- or 20-hp combustion engine, and with an optional folding propeller they are geared to become an electric motor choice for sailboat owners.
Mounted below water, the pod drives save space. The company said the Cruise 4.0 FP will propel a sailboat as large as 4 tons about 7 mph.
Torqeedo said it has also launched Deep Blue Saildrive, an electric sail drive with 40-hp equivalent power for displacement vessels or large yachts. The Deep Blue SD, which weighs less than 155 pounds, can propel boats that weigh as much as 50 tons at speeds as fast as 11 mph.
Torqeedo also said it has introduced improved accessories, including a new 915Wh lithium travel battery, which the company said offers 73 percent more power than previously available. It provides an integrated GPS and a USB connector to power other electric devices.
“After a short 10-year history our company, which began with a small electric outboard delivering only 2 hp of power, can now look with pride on a family of motors ranging from 1 to 80 hp,” Torqeedo founder and CEO Christoph Ballin said in a statement.
“They represent a powerful and sustainable alternative to conventional drives. Our mission to make electric boating possible for the largest number of boat owners and sailors is gradually becoming reality.”
