Suzuki debuts new outboards
Soundings
Although bigger is the buzzword in the outboard market these days, Suzuki Marine came to Miami to showcase “a new generation” of compact lightweight outboards and tout its consistent market growth.
“We’ve had 30 months of continuous growth,” marine sales division director Gus Blakely said at a press conference Thursday at the Progressive Miami International Boat Show.
Suzuki introduced its new DF6A 6-stroke and DF4A 4-stroke models at the press event.
“Don’t let their size fool you. We put plenty of innovation into them,” Blakely said.
Suzuki said the engines each weigh slightly more than 50 pounds and feature several ease-of-use design features, including easy start after storage; a new forced lubrication system; an offset crankshaft to reduce lateral pressure against the cylinder wall; quiet operation; convenient three-side storage; a new three-level tilt system; an improved tiller and carrying handle; and better fuel efficiency and mileage.
