If you operate a powered watercraft in the province of British Columbia, then you need to carry a valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card. Sometimes referred to as a boating license, the Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC) is actually a federal certificate issued by Transport Canada and valid in all Canadian provinces and territories.
Canadian Power and Sail Squadrons offers a variety of classroom based Boating Safety and Navigation courses at locations across Canada. You can search for a course of interest to you on their website.

Introductory courses include Boating Basics (PCOC), Boating 2: Beyond the PCOC, Boating 3: Introduction to Navigation, Boating Essentials, and PCOC for Youth.
