Furuno Honoured at NMEA Conference

Furuno said it won three awards at the Sept. 29-Oct. 1 NMEA Conference & Expo in Baltimore, including its 40th consecutive Best Radar Award.
Furuno said it has won 215 awards during the 44 years that the National Marine Electronics Association has been recognizing marine electronics manufacturers for product excellence, making the company the most recognized in its field.
“Being recognized by the NMEA in any category is an honor, but winning the Product of Excellence Award for Radar 40 years in a row is special,” Furuno USA president and CFO Brad Reents said in a statement.
“This exemplifies the commitment that Furuno has made and continues to make in our core technologies. We are very appreciative and humbled that the dealers who vote for these awards can see our commitment to excellence.”
The product that received the Product of Excellence award for Radar was Furuno’s FR8065 UHD Radar. The FR8065 is a 6 kW open radar array that incorporates the company’s UHD digital radar processing for ultimate target detection and performance.
The DFF1-UHD TruEcho CHIRP Fish Finder won the Product of Excellence Fish Finder category. Furuno said it has captured the Best Fish Finder award in 43 of of the last 44 years.
The fish finder is a network sounder that can connect to NavNet TZtouch2, TZtouch and 3D systems. The CHIRP signal sweeps more than 90 frequencies to produce high-resolution fish targets that the company said are as much as 10 times sharper than conventional fish finders.
In the Product of Excellence AIS category, Furuno’s FA150 UAIS is a Class-A receiver that provides multiple interfaces for radar, ECDIS and PCs.
