Imagine ringing in the New Year in a winter wonderland. The light from your campfire reflects off the snow, and your friends and family ladle out cocoa from the pot bubbling over the flames. This is a familiar scene for the seasonal RVers at MacGregor Point Provincial Park, located on Lake Huron, off of Bruce Road 33 near Port Elgin, Ontario roughly a 50 minute drive southwest of Owen Sound.
Ready to experience winter in a whole new way? Registration is now open for the 2015/2016 season: book your winter retreat today!
The winter RV program is unique to MacGregor Point Provincial Park. Winter RVers stay warm and cozy on their electrical sites, and have a safe place to park their RV during the snowy season. MacGregor Point offers a fully functioning comfort station, plowed roads and plowed campsites. The winter RV season runs from November 1, 2015 to April 10, 2016. Some RVers stay all winter, while others only stay a weekend or two per month.
What can you do at MacGregor Point in the winter?
Skate the trails - Glide through the woods on MacGregor Point’s ice trail. The 400 metre skating oval provides an unforgettable outdoor experience. When we turn the lights on at night, it’s truly magical.
Go cross-country skiing - The Deer Run Trail (11km) suits both novice and experienced cross-country skiers. This trail combination gently winds through upland hardwood forest and wetland areas.
Strap on some snowshoes - Many RVers start the day with a refreshing tramp through the woods. Snowshoe trails are located in Nipissing Campground, as well as on all unplowed roads and non-track set trails.
Enjoy winter wildlife - Many winter guests hang bird feeders and welcome a diverse stream of feathered dinner guests. Others puzzle over tracks through the snow or peek out their windows at active winter critters.
