5 reasons to go RV camping in La Mauricie National Park
This summer, why not vacation in Quebec? Three rare and exceptional camping destinations are nestled in this province. With private wooded sites in the middle of the forest, they have been adapted to accommodate the largest and most comfortable of RVs. Welcome to La Mauricie National Park!
1. Close to 300 sites located in 3 campgrounds
La Mauricie National Park’s three campgrounds are among the most attractive in Quebec. Just like Canada’s other national parks, La Mauricie National Park is known for its well-maintained campgrounds and the quality of its facilities. You’ll find the perfect spot for your RV among the 288 available sites. Pick the one that most suits you!
A broad range of activities led by naturalists is offered to campers all summer long. Bring your bikes - the paved roads in the three campgrounds are perfect for cyclists of all ages. We have everything you need for evenings around the fire: there is a fire pit at every campsite and wood for sale onsite.
2. All the amenities, Wi-Fi included
Some cell phones have network access at the Rivière à la Pêche Campground. Keep your friends up to date and send them photos from your trip, as you would from home. There is free Wi-Fi access at the Rivière à la Pêche Service Centre, just a few metres from your campsite. Enjoy one of the region’s best hot chocolates while you’re surfing the net.
Park your RV with ease, even if it’s really big: some sites are more than 80 feet long. Some can accommodate RVs that are 30 feet or longer while others are meant for RVs of 30 feet or less. Sites may be rented with or without electricity. Sewage dumping stations may be used without incurring additional fees.
Whichever campground you choose, nearly all the sites have shade. You will be immersed in nature, in the middle of the forest, in complete privacy.
3. Perfect placement: Halfway between Montreal and Quebec City
La Mauricie National Park is the perfect place to discover “la belle province.” It is centrally located approximately two hours from Montreal and Quebec City, making this park a favourite destination from which to explore the province’s big cities while sleeping in an enchanting and peaceful setting.
Do you prefer nature’s appeal over the noise of the city? Extend your stay in the park and camp here for up to 14 consecutive nights. Nature enthusiasts will enjoy the sports, recreational, and educational activities that the Park offers. There are also beautiful villages to discover just a few kilometres away.
4. More than 150 lakes and 1000 ways to enjoy water
Swimming, hiking along the lakes, picnicking on the beach, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and more - there’s no lack of activities at La Mauricie National Park. You’ll be given a visitor’s guide when you arrive at the Park to help you discover them. What’s not to be missed? The fascinating Cascades are well worth the trip, as are the impressive Waber Falls.
Take a leisurely excursion down the Parkway to admire the striking scenery and maybe even see a few animals. Stop at Le Passage Lookout, located in the middle of the park, to take in the view of Wapizagonke Lake, which is more than 15 kilometres long. It’s sure to take your breath away!
5. Camp whatever the season
You can camp in the Park in your RV from mid-May to mid-October. During the other months of the year, try camping in one of Parks Canada’s oTENTiks, a cross between a traditional tent and a rustic cabin. Similar to an RV, oTENTiks have many amenities. Accessible year-round, they enable you to pack light. Try glamping if your RV also needs a vacation.
