Saved by the Angels in Mexico
Story and photos by Gabriel Romero
When RV’ers think of Mexico for their next winter RV trip, they certainly dream of great adventures in an exotic country with impressive pyramids, beautiful colonial towns, mariachis, tequila, friendly people and warm sunny days on wonderful tropical beaches. In fact, this is what Mexico is, a paradise for Snowbirds …but, then, while dreaming, some questions and concerns might pop-up in RV’ers’ minds:
- How am I going to communicate with people who speak only Spanish?
- How can I ensure my space in RV Parks?
- What is going to happen if suddenly I have a break-down in the middle of the road?
One quick answer to these questions would be: “Join an RV caravan and just relax and enjoy while expert staff takes care of the planning, reservations, sightseeing tours and assistance during the whole trip.”
Fortunately for RV’ers from North America there are numerous reputable caravan companies and RV clubs that organize circuits to all of the corners of Mexico, including: Baja California, Copper Canyon, Colonial Mexico, Pacific Coasts and the Yucatan Route, a wide variety of choices that will make their dreams come true.
The good news for RV travelers in Mexico is they can count on “the Angels” to help them in case of breakdown or emergencies. These are The Green Angels, who patrol 262 routes on the federal highways with a total of 250 fully equipped pick-up trucks that carry all of the necessary tools, advanced radio communication system and cell phones to assist RV’ers and other tourists in case of difficulty. The Mexican Green Angels Corporation is part of the Tourism Ministry of Mexico, consisting of over 550 well trained officers and expert mechanics. They have been helping motorists on the Mexican highways for over 50 years. The Green Angel’s services are free of charge, although most grateful travelers usually offer them a small token of their appreciation. In the case of RV Caravans, the Green Angels frequently assist them with escort support while crossing the USA-Mexico border or while crossing large urban zones like: Mexico City, Guadalajara and Monterrey.
While travelling in Mexico, if you ever need assistance, call your helpful Green Angels by dialing 078. For arrangements regarding escorts, contact your experts in caravanning.
One of these days, you might also be saved by the angels while travelling in this fabulous land of the sun.
