Nestled between the Selkirk and Monashee Mountain Ranges, Revelstoke BC is a year-round historic alpine community like no other. Far away from crowds, and located in one of the most beautiful places on earth, Revelstoke is the gateway to two breathtaking National Parks and three Provincial Parks; collaboratively making for some of the most spectacular scenery in the province. The summit of Mount Revelstoke National Park provides access to many viewpoints, short walks, and longer hikes amongst brilliantly coloured wildflowers. The 26km drive up Meadows in the Sky Parkway make it the only place in Canada where you can literally “summit a mountain” just a few minutes from your RV.
The City of Revelstoke is rich in history, with numerous Victorian era heritage buildings from the 1800’s restored to their original splendour. Take a self guided heritage tour (brochures available at the Revelstoke Museum) to identify them. While you’re at it, check out the Nickelodeon Museum, Canada’s only mechanical music museum. Find out how Revelstoke has been influenced by the Canadian Pacific Railway and Forestry industry by visiting the Revelstoke Railway Museum and the BC Interior Forestry Museum.
Outdoor recreation abounds with rock climbing, hiking, biking, climbing, paragliding, kayaking, fishing, birding, hot springs and the 18-hole, par 72 Championship Revelstoke Golf Club course to test your game. With the majestic mountain ranges as a backdrop, and incredible views in all directions, it will be hard to keep your eye on the ball.
Enjoy free nightly entertainment downtown in Grizzly Plaza during July and August, or visit the Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings, from May through October. Quaint boutiques, casual coffee bars and fine restaurants are all within easy walking distance.
From fly-fishing in alpine lakes to deep-water trolling, Revelstoke offers a bounty of great fishing. Popular fishing spots include 220 km long Arrow Lakes and 130 km long man-made Lake Revelstoke teeming with Rainbow and Cutthroat trout, Dolly Varden, and Kokanee.
Bring your bikes and ride along the recently completed Frisby Ridge Trail. Designed by the Revelstoke Cycling Association to be enjoyed by riders of all skill levels, this 12.9 km ride (one way) will take you through sub-alpine forests, along breathtaking scenic vistas, and past stunning, wildflower-filled alpine meadows. In spring and early summer, ride amongst big trees, tacky dirt, and an otherworldly sea of green through Revelstoke's inland rainforest at Mount Macpherson.
All ages enjoy The Enchanted Forest enroute to Sicamous with its boardwalk nature trail through old growth forest and Jolly Fairy Folk figurines, where visitors can even climb a spiral staircase inside a giant 800 year old cedar tree or see BC’s one and only genuine “stump house”. The adjoining Skytrek Adventure Park offers tree-top zip lines, suspension bridges, an adventure tower, and 3 high rope courses for all activity levels and ages. Three Valley Gap Heritage Ghost Town is also out in that neck of the woods, offering the opportunity to relive the colourful pioneer days of the late 1800’s.
Revelstoke is blessed with a number of wonderful RV parks for you to enjoy while exploring the area. Explore what makes this unique community ‘Close to Heaven, Down to earth’.
