Hockey Canada selected Kamloops to host the 2014 Four Nations Cup, bringing four of the world’s top women’s hockey nations to compete from November 4-8. Canada’s National Women’s Team was joined by Finland, Sweden and the United States. This was the first major international women’s hockey event following Canada’s gold medal victory at the 2014 Olympic Winter Games in Sochi, Russia. Kamloops is known as Canada’s Tournament Capital, but Kamloops is much more than a great city to visit for events.

Blending energizing recreational opportunities with a culture of warm, welcoming people, Kamloops is an amazing place for any visitor to let loose and just play. Over 100 lakes and many rivers are located close to the city, and many of these bodies of water have boat launches, making Kamloops a great home base for that next boating adventure. And just a short distance east of Kamloops you'll find the Shuswap Lakes area – a vast centre for water sports. Kamloops offers an abundance of recreation including world-class golf, hiking, mountain biking and boating in the summer; and skiing and snowboarding in the winter.

Kamloops, with a population of over 85,000, takes pride in their western and native heritages. The three-day annual Cowboy Festival every March is a cultural celebration of the ranching lifestyle with a variety of entertainers including cowboy poets and musicians.  Special events include the three-day Kamloops Pow Wow showcasing the First Nations heritage and culture through food, dance, music and storytelling. 

Kamloops is also host to Sun Peaks Resort, a world-class destination for summer and winter fun.  Interior British Columbia's largest destination ski resort is well known for award-winning downhill skiing, snowboarding and cross-country skiing in the winter. Summer activities include hiking, golfing and downhill mountain biking and some innovative guided hiking, biking and Segway tours. Sun Peaks Resort's European-style village is nestled at the base of three mountains offering a wide selection of accommodations, restaurants and shopping boutiques to suit a variety of tastes, including two parking lots converted for RV dry-camping use and a wonderful farmer and crafters market on summer Sunday mornings.
