Travel-Lite to Debut Rayzr Truck Camper Line
RV Business
At the Sept. 22-24 Elkhart County RV Open House, Travel-Lite Inc. will debut an innovative line of truck campers called the Rayzr.
Dustin Johns, president of the New Paris, Ind.-based manufacturer, said the key element of the new Rayzr is that the units do not have a sleeping area overhanging the cab of the truck, instead angling from front to rear.
“It’s super aerodynamic, very lightweight and inexpensive,” Johns told RVBUSINESS.com, adding that the Rayzr will debut with three floorplans, all of which will weigh less than 1,000 pounds and have opposing windows for cross ventilation. Air conditioning will be available as an option.
The Rayzr SS (Super Sleeper) features a jackknife sofa, freestanding table and a 72-inch bench seat. The FB (Front Bed) model offers a 54-by-82-inch bed, underbed storage and a galley with sink and two-burner stovetop. The FK (Full Kitchen) floorplan comes with a 72-inch U-shaped dinette that converts to a two-person bed, refrigerator, pantry, two-burner stovetop, sink and a storage cabinet for a porta-potty.
“People will have a choice. If they want something really simple, I have that. Or if they want something more deluxe, I have that,” he said.
Johns, who said the Rayzr would retail starting at $5,495, added that the innovative truck camper is the result of dealer and customer demand.
“I get asked every day for something like this. ‘Do you have something that’s not so heavy?’ Or, ‘Do you have something that’s more like a sleeper style unit? I don’t need all the frills; I just need something to get out of the elements,’” he said.
Travel-Lite’s display at Open House will be located on the south side of Executive Parkway, leading up to the RV/MH Hall of Fame.
