Black Book Reports Values Up in March

Begg’s Black Book, offering a monthly analysis of the wholesale specialty vehicle market, reported that auction values continued to head higher this spring.
According to historical data, it looks like prices will have one or two more months of strength before beginning their seasonal dip as summer arrives. However, it is possible that the strong prices might hold up a little bit longer since the unseasonably cold temperatures of this spring have kept RV shoppers home and off of the dealers’ lots further into the calendar year.
This past month, motorhomes continued their upward march, coming in at an average selling price at auction of $35,203, which is up $282 (just less than 1%) from last month’s $34,921. Towables, including travel trailers, fifth-wheels and camping trailers, added another $273 (or about 2%), coming in at $10,512.
This is the fifth month in a row that motorhome and towable prices have increased month over month. For reference, one year ago the average motorhome sold for $40,025 at auction, while the average towable was $10,691.
