Manitoba-based Leisure Travel Vans – a subsidiary of Triple E RV – has met the needs of both baby boomers and adventurous millennials with its all-new Wonder Rear Twin Bed (RTB) Class C, the third entry in this series that marks a strong turning point in the innovative use of space and functional design.
Designed for those who are either downsizing from a class A or larger C RV or those who commonly haul cumbersome outdoor gear – yet still desire the utmost space and comfort – the Wonder RTB suits the best both worlds with the optimal performance, driveability, and economy.
Coming in bumper to bumper at 7.5 m (24.9 ft), with a width of 2.2 m (7.10 ft) and height of 2.7 m (9.11 ½ ft), the RTB boasts a series of new designs – inside and out – making it another distinctive winner in the Wonder family of class Cs. Hence its RTB designation, the new rear bed configuration is not only unique and comfortable but very functional. For example, the pair of 81 x 193 cm (32 × 76 in) twin beds – that can be converted into a 163 x 193 cm (64 × 76 in) queen– offer an abundance of storage beneath both mattresses and is accessed by lifting the mattresses or opening the featured doors.
Inside, are two deep, designated areas. One offers space for all your added necessities while the other can neatly conceal your wardrobe thanks to the unique hanging locker design. Other features in this area include a Smart TV, optimal lighting, frameless windows with roller blinds, overhead storage plus a nightstand. A fold-out table can also be accommodated (in the twin bed configuration) while the door to the shower forward can enclose the entire bedroom area when fully retracted.
"By speaking with RVers, we try to understand what consumers want," said Angelo Natuzzi, the lead designer for the Wonder RTB. "A lot of people are downsizing from the A or larger C class as they want to explore more and get into spaces where larger RVs can't. Sometimes it's a shock with the limited room so we made great use of the space that we had, which also allowed us to add additional storage."
Bright, airy, and spacious, the interior is another distinctive design. You'll appreciate the separate stand-up shower, spacious lavatory, the storage space overhead, plus the largest galley in the company's Wonder fleet. With more storage above and below in this space, the galley's Corian countertop has a fold-out extension, providing additional room to entertain or prepare meals. Plush seating and a dinette are just forward while the passenger seat swivels for an additional seating arrangement. Just opposite is another large window above a credenza that offers even more space for belongings.
With many exterior appointments such as LED lighting, a fibreglass front mask, and curved vacuum-bonded, fibreglass sidewalls, one of the key highlights is the rear, pass-thru storage compartment. A unique design for any B model, it's accessed by lifting the locking, fibreglass door on either side where you'll find a sliding rack for two bikes, with more than enough space for a BBQ, cables, a cooler, fishing gear, and other essentials.
"Every year we have a rally with our customers and one thing that we realized is a lot of people bring their bikes," said Natuzzi. "So, we started thinking of a unique design for them to store them in the unit. That was the beginning of the overall concept of this design."
Spacious and clean, the pass-thru compartment also has mesh storage for smaller items plus a series of designated racks for hoses or camping chairs. There's also enough room for folding kayaks and other cumbersome gear.
When it comes to performance, the RTB rides on the proven Ford Transit Chassis that offers a 178-inch wheelbase with dual rear wheels for optimal stability and driveability. When you consider the five-cylinder, 185 hp turbo diesel with 350 foot-pounds of torque and six-speed auto transmission, the result is the ideal power, economy and performance to easily handle the road no matter where your travels take you.
