After experiencing a successful inaugural year of the RV Learning Weekend event this past May, RVDA Alberta Vice President Dan Merkowsky said the Association will be hosting the event for a second time May 23-25, 2014 at Ol’ MacDonald’s Resort.
“We’re very excited because we had 70 people last year and they’ve all committed to bringing friends this year, so we should be up around the 150 mark,” Merkowsky said. “We’re very excited about the fact that everyone we talked to enjoyed it so much that they’re coming back and bringing a friend.”
There will be educational seminars that include the following topics: Solar power, batteries and generators, RV and travel insurance, towing, hitches and sway information, seasonal RV preparations, and RV maintenance.
In addition to educational seminars, there will be on-site safety inspections done by Performance RV Service and other certified RV technicians. Technicians will also be on hand throughout the weekend to answer questions.
The weekend involves fun activities such as a reception, bonfire and fireworks for attendees in addition to the educational opportunities.
“We’re pretty social up here in Alberta, so we make sure to have a reception on the first night and mix and mingle, look after the meals for them, and a social again on Saturday,” Merkowsky said. “We had a bonfire last year, but this year we’ll have a bonfire and fireworks.”
A registration fee of $149 includes admission into the seminars; a reception Friday night; lunch, dinner, entertainment, bonfire and fireworks on Saturday; and brunch on Sunday.
“We’re looking to make it affordable for our dealers and consumers to come and visit with us for three days,” Merkowsky said.
