JELLYSTONE PARK CAMP-RESORT IN WOODSTOCK, N.B. SEES A 34% INCREASE IN OCCUPANCIES IN 2015
A major interactive water attraction helped increase business at Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp-Resort in Woodstock this year, despite a cool summer. “We had a banner season this year,” said Peter Clark, who co-owns the Jellystone Park with his wife, Janet. “We didn't have a tremendously warm summer. We had two or two and a half weeks of what I would call really warm weather. But people were staying for extended lengths of time.”
Indeed, Jellystone Park occupancies were up 34 percent over last year’s figures. “I attribute it to the water zone and to people coming and staying for longer periods of time,” Clark said. The park closed for the season Sept. 7, largely because its rangers, most of whom attend area high schools or universities, have gone back to school.

Jellystone Water Park
The Jellystone Park in Woodstock features a 12,000-square foot water attraction with 37 interactive water play features. The water zone attraction is the latest improvement the Clarks have made to their 160-site park, which includes 21 rental cabins. During the past three years, they have also installed a jumping pillow, inflatable slides and an obstacle course as well as a new kiddie jumping pad this summer. Other park amenities include an 18-hole miniature golf course, 2 giant waterslides, a mining cave and a unique attraction called Target Tag.
During the camping season, the Clarks have a team of five full-time recreation directors who help organize numerous games, crafts and other activities with Yogi Bear, which they change every year. “We enjoy seeing the families having a great time and watching the kids grow up here at Jellystone Park,” Clark said.
The Clarks have owned and operated their campground for 34 years, the last 19 of which they have operated as a Jellystone Park resort. “There are no ‘staff’ here,” Peter Clark said. “We’re all park rangers. “People call me ‘Ranger Peter’ and my wife, ’Ranger Janet’ ”
Their park has a short season — from June 1 to Sept. 7. But while the summer season is short, the park keeps very busy serving campers from Maine, Quebec, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia. For more information, please visit www.jellystoneparknb.com.
