5 Minute Fit Tip
With Sally Hauca & MaryAnne Galey
Yoga provides easy fitness while you’re on the road without the need for a fancy gym or any specialized equipment. Perfect at rest stops when you take a break from driving and once you’ve settled into your RV site. Here are some key moves to add to your routine.
Extended Side Angle
Benefits: Strengthens ankles, legs, core, upper arms; stretches legs, hips, chest, shoulders and helps digestion.
Begin in warrior II with left knee bent. Exhale; lower left elbow to left knee and reach right arm up (as shown above). Pull shoulder blade back, reaching arm alongside right ear. Extend body in a long line from the outside of right foot through the fingertips of right hand. Open chest by turning torso up toward the ceiling from the bottom of waist, moving ribs away from the top of hip. Look up without hurting neck. Inhale and return to centre. Hold for 5 breaths. Switch sides and repeat.
Happy Fitness!
