Haunted Ghost Train of Ely
Nevada Northern Railway
Autumn in Ely, Nevada is a pleasant time of year; the kids are back in school and the air is not too warm or too cold. Hollyhocks still display their colorful hues and apples are still falling from the trees. Of course, fresh mountain air, cornflower blue skies and a bright, shining sun tend to prevail year round -- it's just the temperatures that change.
One of the best things about Ely in the fall (in addition to the occasional aroma of a wood-burning stove), is Nevada Northern Railway's annual and much anticipated Haunted Ghost Trains, running every Sat. night in October at 7 p.m. (count 'em -- that's five Sat. nights). These spooktacular trains are a great autumn pick-me-up -- sure to get the blood flowing... (if yours doesn't, ours certainly will!) For those who have been steadily cracking the books for the first month back to school, a ride on one of the Haunted Ghost Trains is a particularly fun reward -- for parents, too. The Haunted Ghost Trains offer a safe adrenaline rush -- and, yes, many come back for more, riding these trains multiple times. Costumes are encouraged for all ages.
