First the road manners. It is designed to perform on the trails but it is a relatively quiet tire, probably due to the directional tread pattern, and I was quite comfortable using them on the daily drive. Plenty of siping in the lugs provided confident wet weather control (best of the test) and the tires warmed up quickly to provide a comfortable ride on the morning commute.
According to Pro Comp, the tires feature a spiral nylon overwrap, two opposed angle steel belts on the tread and 3-ply polyester.
The LT315/70R17 were mounted on the Ion rims and bolted on to the Ram 1500. Off-road they provided good traction in dirt, sand and over rocks and decent traction in mud and snow. Airing down, the tires deformed nicely to provide a wide footprint.
It is best suited if you need great off-road traction as well as superb road manners. You’re the type of driver who is not running into a lot of heavy mud or snow, but when you do you’ll be able to get through it with some good technique. It’s an LT tire if you need the higher load range for work or play, making this one of the top choices for anyone who uses their truck to do absolutely everything.
