West Gate RV Park has received the Small Park of the Year Award from the Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO).
“We’re thrilled to receive this recognition,” said Beth Carroll, whose family purchased the park in 2015 and invested about $50,000 in improvements to improve its aesthetic appeal. “It looks like a new park,” she said.
The improvements include the installation of hail-proof shade covers over 17 of the park’s 50 campsites as well as improvements to the park’s restroom facilities and club house. The Carroll family is also putting in new landscaping.
“Compared to last year, we’ve probably doubled in business,” Carroll said, adding that the park is attracting clubs and rally groups as well as people who work various jobs in the area. “People feel that we are in a quiet and safe area,” Carroll said, noting that the park has received 8-9-8 ratings from the Good Sam RV Travel Guide & Campground Directory.
