Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park™ Guadalupe River has expansive grounds and is close to the heart of Kerrville where there are many services.
Words by Steve Fennell
Consisting of various regions and diverse landscapes, Texas is a very popular snowbird getaway. With the renowned Gulf Coast to the south, the Panhandle Plains to the north and more scenic districts in between, the Lonestar State welcomes RVers who are looking for new experiences on the road this winter.
The snowbird season at The Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park™ Guadalupe River begins as early as November 1. This is when RVers from the north start to settle in and make the region their home for the season.
Located in the City of Kerrville, which is considered the ‘unofficial capital of Texas Hill Country,’ the park is situated on 24 ha (60 ac) along the Guadalupe River. While it draws the crowds during peak season, it’s also popular among snowbirds given its focus on maintaining a strong RV community to further enjoy its grounds and the variety of accommodations.

Mini-putt is popular among guests and there’s excellent golfing in the immediate area.
How to Stay and On-Site Activities
The number of country-style cabin rentals are as stylish as they are comfortable. They are pet-friendly, range in size to sleep four to 15 people and have a variety of essential appointments. The riverfront locations are especially popular.
RV sites, too, are very accommodating. A great choice is the Red Carpet locations.
With level concrete pads, some of the key services include 30- or 50-amp power, water and sewer hookups, cable, WiFi, as well as charcoal grills, picnic tables, and fire rings. They are even pet-friendly with pull-through access.
Sharing many of these features are the Best Premium, Preferred Premium, and Premium sites. With back-in or pull-through access, all are well-designed and also have 30- or 50-amp power, cable, fire rings, sewer/water hook-ups, picnic tables, and WiFi.
With a variety of locations offered, you can choose one close to the facilities or further in the park for a more quiet and peaceful experience. Regardless of where you stay, the laundry, comfort station (showers and restrooms), Ranger Station store, as well as the fitness center, recreation hall and indoor and sports pools are easily accessible.
Of course, the latter three are the common areas where many weekly and daily activities take place. For instance, you can enjoy scheduled crafts, game nights, and social club meetings. There’s always something going on.

Social activities and events like dancers are regularly held.
While the park’s event list wasn’t finalized at the time of writing, management explained that past themed/festive events have included:
- Thanksgiving Potlucks
- ‘Wreath Makin’ and Wine Tastin’
- Christmas Casino Party
- New Year’s Eve Bash
- ‘Sip and Paint’ socials
- Winter Texan Sweetheart Dance
However, activities are not limited to events and weekly socials. At your leisure, you can enjoy Bocce Ball, PickleBall, and fishing on or along the river. The miniature golf course is also popular and where all ages can enjoy a fun round.
If you’re serious about golf, Kerrville has three courses. All are within a 20-minute drive from Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park™ and have a range of challenges for all skill levels. You can also spend the day hiking all or part of the 10 km (6 mi) Kerrville River Trail, which leads along Kerrville-Schreiner Park where there’s excellent birding. Canoe and kayak rentals are available to explore this part of the Guadalupe River.
In the event you want to stay closer to your site for the day, many points offer access to the river. Although rentals are not available on the grounds, you are encouraged to bring your kayak or canoe to take in the area even more.
