Idyllwild RV Resort, CA
California Assn of RV Parks & Campgrounds
Campgrounds often close when the weather gets cold and stormy. But not all of them. In fact, Idyllwild RV Resort draws business throughout the winter months, not only for its eight cozy cabins and cottages, but for its RV and tent sites. “Some people come up specifically for the snow,” said campground manager Tom Reider.
The 6,000-foot resort, which is part of the Thousand Trails network, maintains 40 RV and tent sites during the winter months in addition to its eight rental units. “We even have people who tent camp in the winter,” Reider said.
But the cabins and cottages are the most popular given the chilly weather. The cabins sleep five while the cottages sleep six. Both types of units have full size bathrooms with showers and kitchens with full size refrigerators, microwave ovens and toaster ovens as well as dinnerware and cooking utensils.
In addition to offering hiking trails and scenic wilderness areas, Idyllwild is a charming mountain town that typically draws weekend visitors to its eclectic shops and restaurants.
