Has visiting the redwoods always been on your bucket list? The redwoods are the tallest trees in the world and can reach heights of more than 107 ( 350 feet) Redwoods can be a diameter of 7 m (24 feet) and 725,700 kg (1.6 million lbs). Some of these trees are 2000 years old. Although they once grew throughout the Northern Hemisphere, today they can only be found on the coast of central California through to southern Oregon.
A great place to base your visit to the trees is Giant Redwoods RV Park on the Eel River in Humboldt County of Northern CA. This is a destination resort in the mild coastal climate that nourishes the magnificent redwoods. You may never want to leave. But, if you’re itinerary includes areas north like Portland and the Oregon Coast, or south like San Francisco and Napa, make the Giant Redwoods RV Park your primary destination and stay again as you return on your round trip.
Why? Location, location, location. The park is situated on the Avenue of the Giants, the most fantastic awe-inspiring 2-lane road through some of the oldest, tallest trees in the world. The park hugs a lovely slow flowing curve of the Eel River with shallows for wading, a delightful swimming hole, and views into Humboldt Redwood State Park’s forest across the river. Surrender to the peace while relaxing on a sandbar, dipping your feet into the cool water, breathing in the fresh mild air, and gazing at the enormous trees outlined by the bluest sky. Fall in love with nature and connect your spirit with the thousand year old trees nearby.
If you’re feeling adventurous, you’re in the right location. Just outside your RV the river offers kayaking and fishing, while hiking trails in the redwoods or into the mountains offer endless views. Just a short drive to the coast and you’ll be amazed by the spectacular convergence of land and sea along the Lost Coast. Explore the area hiking some of the National Recreation Trails, fishing, hunting and sightseeing in the mountain streams, and forests.
Back at base you’re made to feel right at home by the friendly managers and the features you want in an RV park. There are picnic tables and fire pits for every site, resurfaced and graded park grounds, coin-operated laundry, bathroom facilities with heated floors, volleyball, tetherball and horseshoe pits, upgraded free cable and Wi-Fi system park-wide, upgraded electrical boxes/ panels up to 50A, playground for kids, and a dog park for your best buddy.
All of this on grounds with the redwood trees you came to experience and the serenity you crave. See why you’ll want to come back?
