The gated resort has unique landscaping with a world-class nine-hole putting green.

We were searching for a new winter home in the Palm Springs, CA, region. One desirable RV park had a three-year waiting list. Needless to say, that wasn’t going to work for us. We asked ourselves, ‘how does one get into a popular RV park where the current snowbirds rebook as early as possible leaving few opportunities for someone new?’
One doesn’t. We needed to find a brand new park, which would be open to bookings as they don’t yet have an existing RV clientele. Unfortunately, new RV resorts are few. Fortunately, we found one. I can’t begin to tell you how excited we were.
Our goal was to spend the winter in the Palm Springs region. We love the vibe of the city, the almost endless outdoor recreation, ongoing events and festivals, restaurants, markets, museums, mountains, and deserts. The perfect snowbird destination for us means waking up to a plethora of activities and opportunities.

Coachella Lakes RV Resort is the latest park by CRR: A Lifestyle Company. We visited in March this year and although it was not yet open, we were able to book a guided tour of the grounds to see what we could expect.
It’s located in the Coachella Valley, home of the famous Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival and Stagecoach Country Music Festival. The resort is just a short distance off Interstate 10 on Dillon Road.
The resort is also close to SR 86 and 111 for fast, easy access to all the nearby communities including Coachella, Indio, Palm Desert, Desert Palms, Rancho Mirage, Thousand Palms, Cathedral City, and Palm Springs. The Salton Sea, Joshua Tree National Park, San Jacinto & Santa Rosa Mountains, and Borrego Springs (and let’s not forget the Cabazon Outlets) are easy to visit as well.
This gated destination has unique landscaping including four lakes (two with fishing) and a world-class nine-hole putting green. A descriptive list of amenities doesn’t do justice to the quality and luxury of the facilities. Billiards, pools, hot tubs, a splash pad, 24-hour fitness centre, laundry, clubhouse, playground, shuffleboard, pickleball courts, amphitheatre, plus a wedding venue and stage are all new and first class.

Seen here is just one of the four lakes among the grounds – two of which offer active fishing.
The outdoor activity calendar hasn’t been finalized for the 2023/2024 season, but we expect it will mirror that of its sister property Verde Ranch RV Resort, which you can view at https://verderanchrvresort.com/activities/.
The detail in its overall design is inspired. Visitors will enjoy the fitness trail, outdoor exercise circuit, and special sites like K9 Corner, which is close to the off-leash dog park. Choose the Front Row sites that are close to the amphitheatre or the Lakeside sites, which are the nearest to the lakes in this family-friendly outdoor mecca.
After reviewing the costs of several resorts in the Coachella Valley, Coachella Lakes RV Resort provides exceptional value in Southern California. Rates for the 2023/2024 season range from $1,500 to $1,800 per month. We discovered that at the time of writing, Coachella Lakes is offering a winter special of up to 25 percent off the monthly rate. In addition to a variety of activities, pickleball may be one of the most popular.
All sites are pet-friendly, with 30-/50-amp power, water, cable, sewer, and best-in-class WiFi. Vacation rentals are also available for non-RVers in one-bedroom, two-bedroom, and two-bedroom-plus loft configurations.
A website reader chastised us last year when we published an article on RV resorts with available space. By the time they read it online, space was not available. I explained that print and digital readers get our exclusive content first.
If you are reading this now, in print, digital or on www.suncruisermedia.com, I urge you to visit the Coachella Lakes RV Resort website (or call or email). If it looks like the park for you, book it immediately. All signs indicate that this will be another challenging year for snowbirds to find a site to match their lifestyle, with little change in the future.
