Walton's RV Resort
Although they claim to not have anything to do with the Walton's of television fame, the parallels in philosophy are not lost on their customers: integrity, family values, and trust.
Slowly but surely, the landscape of the RV lifestyle is shifting. And Walton's Lakefront Resort, in Osoyoos, British Columbia, has positioned themselves perfectly to meet the shifting demand and bring true value to their customers and clients.
“Our clients are on the move so we cater to the traveling RVer and don't allow Park Models on site,” says Leanne Napier, sales manager at Walton's. “We're one of the nicest parks around. Among the many perks we offer our clientele: all of the lots have stamped concrete pads, lots have cedar hedges for privacy; we are situated near Osoyoos Lake, and we have an outdoor swimming pool and a hot tub.
She points out that once base camp is established, RVers can venture forth pretty much in all directions, “We're a relatively new resort and we're perfectly situated for clients to take in the best of what there is to do in Osoyoos,” Napier says.
Within an hour of downtown, travelers will find exceptional fishing at local and mountain lakes and streams, hiking and biking on Mount Baldy; with Osoyoos having sunk its vintner roots deeply into the surrounding countryside, wine tours to some of North America's best wineries abound; there is exquisite golfing, boating on Osoyoos lake; Rock Creek is close by offering tons of hiking trails, and many more activities and pastimes that are unique to the area and local culture.”
Concerning the name, although Napier says there is no parallel to the iconic television show of the seventies, many people remember the original Walton's Campground fondly. “The area used to be known as Walton's Mountain – a popular campground and cherry orchard,” says Leanne. “People who used to camp there 20 years ago still talk about it. Essentially the name was already set in stone when we purchased the property.”
Among the endearing features that RVers find at Walton's, people who purchase RV lots there have the option of sub-letting when it's not in use. “Although we are selling lots as well, we also have them available for rent; when you purchase you have option of putting your lot into the rental pool. It's a great way for clients to generate revenue to cover their overhead.”
This year, in addition to the already voluminous list of things for park patrons to do while staying at Walton's, there are numerous new events planned, including movie nights for the kids, arts and crafts workshops; we're planning an August long-weekend party, and more. “We are really in touch with the need to give back to our clients and make sure they are comfortable and entertained,” says Napier. “We notice a lot more younger families getting into the RVing lifestyle over the past year or two – especially during the summer months. It's our job to make sure our clients are happy and want to come back.”
