Pedder Bay RV Resort and Marina on the southwest end of Vancouver Island is a notable destination to spend the winter north of the border. Surrounded by lush forests in a protected inlet that leads out to the Central Juan De Fuca Strait, it’s where you can enjoy the island culture, balmy weather and relaxing atmosphere all in one location, all season.
Pedder Bay is unique. You never have to venture too far - on the land or water - to keep active and at ease. Outdoor recreation abounds, there are ample amenities, and its proximity to Victoria means you’ll have all of the services and personal needs during your stay.
RV Sites, Features and Value
With 78 full-service sites ranging from 10 m (32 ft) to 22 m (70-plus ft), there’s a choice of standard, premium oceanfront or ultra-premium ocean-front locations. Although most waterfront RV resorts in prime locations come at a steeper price, expect competitive rates starting from $49 CAD/night or $1,145 CAD monthly.
Regardless of the duration of your visit, you’ll appreciate the spacious RV sites that have 30 or 50 amp power, WiFi, reliable cellular, water, and a fire ring. Washrooms with private showers, laundry facilities and a café are additional niceties.
Peddar Bay RV Resort and Marina
“Our location is one of a kind with exceptional service in a clean, safe environment located among nature at a great value,” says Jennifer McKimmie, General Manager of Pedder Bay RV Resort & Marina. “The location and marina make us unique and since the ocean and surrounding area is our direct playground, there are several possibilities of outdoor activity.”
For instance, the resort’s full-service, 240-slip marina can accommodate boats up to more than 12 m (40 ft) and the modern floats are spacious with dock lighting and shore power. Security surveillance and even marine fuel are also onsite for added convenience.
Expecting visiting guests by boat? Casually await their arrival at the day-use/picnic area that overlooks the marina. Transient slips are available as well as seasonal rates if you have your boat.
Should you reserve a slip for the season, the marina offers a reciprocal moorage program to freely access select marinas in Victoria, North Saanich and Ladysmith. If you’re new to boating - or even water sports - boat and kayak rentals are offered at a nominal fee to explore the inlet or take on some of the best fishing in the region. Gear and tackle are also available.

Keep Active On and Off-Site
While social activities and events are scheduled throughout the season, a towed or tow vehicle will serve you well (car rental agencies are located in Victoria).
Nearby is Matheson Lake (2.4 km (1.5 mi) to be exact) with a popular 3.8 km (2 mi) moderately-rated forested trail that offers nice views of the water. Many even go the distance along the Galloping Goose Regional Trail, which leads to neighbouring Roche Cove Regional Park and is just as scenic.
Another natural attraction is Sooke Provincial Park. Just 20 minutes from the resort, the area is perfect for picnic lunches along the Sooke River and the easy-to-moderately-rated trails are where you can spot wildlife, enjoy bird watching and check out the potholes, which consist of deep geological pools - or formations - in the river rock. They offer some of the best swimming in the warmer months.
For some city vibes, numerous sights and commercial services are in Victoria. Shopping and dining options abound and it’s worth taking a tour or two to discover the history and all of the places of interest in BC’s capital.
“Pedder Bay RV Resort and Marina has long been - and continues to grow - as a winter destination for Canadian snowbirds,” says McKimmie. “With a mild climate and exciting recreation opportunities, RVers can stay active and social while enjoying the services and attractions in nearby Victoria throughout the season.”
