Residents who call Palm Creek Golf and RV Resort home love the resort's beautifully kept landscape, cordial community and full activities schedule.
"We move where it's best," said Neal Whitfield, 64. "We looked at many, many places. But it was a no- brainer to come here."
Neal and his wife Mary, 53, became full-time residents at Palm Creek Golf and RV Resort earlier this year. They both love how lively the community is.
"We love the overall feel for the place when we got here at Palm Creek; it's an active, vibrant community," Neal said. "You saw people walking and smiling and waving at each other and stopping by to visit other folks while they're out on their dog walks or just out getting exercise."
"The activity level of the residents, physically and mentally, are just really high," Mary said. "Whatever their age, they're young for their age."
Palm Creek Golf and RV Resort keeps their community busy and happy with over 100 daily activities aimed to keep residents active and social while soaking in the Sonoran Desert sun. There are dances, parties and BBQs. Residents can play games and utilize the resort's several sports facilities. There are also arts and crafts classes and various dining choices. The resort's on-site Activities Director is available every day to help guests schedule an entertaining experience.
The resort's lush and challenging Par-3 golf course is a destination in itself. The astonishing greens and fairways are only trumped by the breathless mountain views. Palm Creek Golf and Resort's own PGA Pro, Mark Kenner, is available to assist you and the pro shop is open seven days a week.
But what the Whitfields love the most about Palm Creek Golf and RV Resort is its pristine, newly opened 24-court pickleball complex. This state-of-the-art complex is home to tournament play and open play geared for players of any skill level.
"We're pickleball addicts and that was so important to us," Mary said. "That was probably the most important thing that brought us here. A large part of our life is pickleball and a large portion of our friends across the United States are pickleball players. This is the largest pickleball court complex in the world right now."
Palm Creek Golf and RV Resort also offers softball, shuffleboard, billiards, water volleyball, water exercise, horseshoes and lawn bowling. Residents can also build their inner peace while loosening their limbs with yoga and Pilates classes.
But the resort isn't all about physical activities. The resort community loves getting into games of Texas Hold'em, bridge, pinochle, cribbage, dominoes, hand and foot, and bingo on Monday nights. The Administration & Crafts Building and activity building offers classes including pottery, sewing, quilting, oil and watercolor painting, wood shop, carving and stained glass.
Jim Cobb, 76, and Barbara Cobb, 75, have participated in stained glass classes and have given plates and other items they made in the class to their children as gifts.
"There are just a lot of activities that we can take part in," Jim said. "Or we don't have to take part in any of them. There's enough where we can be selective."
The Cobbs, who became full-time residents in 2003, also enjoy Palm Creek Golf and RV Resort's entertainment at the Palm Creek Playhouse.
"There's a ventriloquist who has a dummy named Matilda; he does a really good job," Jim Cobb said. "His character is really hilarious. We also enjoy the John Denver impersonator. He's excellent. They have all different kinds of shows. Every year, it's a different series."
Mary, like many residents, has involved herself within the community.
"I've done volunteer work in the office and in the mailroom," Mary said. "We've become friends with a lot of people here. We get together and sit and have a glass of wine."
Resort residents also love Palm Creek Golf and RV Resort's amazing location. Palm Creek Golf and RV Resort is just one hour south of bustling Phoenix and one hour north of historical Tucson, both cities renowned for their natural beauty, culture and culinary talent.
