Lyman Lake State Park
Arizona State Parks
Lyman Lake State Park in northeastern Arizona is a 1,500-acre lake with no size restrictions on boats and is now open for camping reservations. The park opened on May 2, 2014 for the summer season. Picacho Peak State Park, the famous Peak between Phoenix and Tucson, will close for the season from May 23 to September 23, 2014.
"In the summer, Picacho Peak State Park is not open due to the extreme heat and safety of our visitors," said Executive Director Bryan Martyn. "Lyman Lake State Park opens in the spring because it is located on the Colorado Plateau which is much cooler in the summer."
Summer days at Lyman Lake State Park are perfect for fishing, water-skiing, camping and hiking. The park features 61 camping sites with shade ramadas, picnic tables and grills. Campsites range from $20 to $30 a night depending on the type of campsite needed. There are also four air-conditioned camping cabins ($55). The four one-room log camping cabins overlook the lake with covered wood porches and comfortable features. They are accessible by car and RV and equipped with electric hook-ups outside.
