Tenting in Kananaskis Country is just one way to enjoy camping in Alberta Parks

Gathering with family and friends, relaxing by an evening fire pit and sleeping under the stars at a provincial campground are not too far away.
To help visitors connect with the summer camping season sooner, the Reserve.AlbertaParks.ca online campsite reservation system will accommodate pre-booking of campsites. Reserve.AlbertaParks.ca provides access to almost 6,000 of Alberta Parks’ 14,000 campsites. Regular campsite bookings are 90 days in advance to make it fair for everyone to access their favourite reserve spot throughout the summer with the May long weekend as the official opening of Alberta Parks’ summer camping season.
The system has more than 360,000 account holders and last season more than 132,000 reservations were made online. To place an online reservation, people need to set up an account; it’s an easy process and accessible on the Reserve.AlbertaParks.ca landing page.
“The popularity of Reserve.AlbertaParks.ca drives us to continually look at ways to enhance the booking experience for our visitors and account holders. The online system is the first step toward a summer of connecting people with nature in our beautiful provincial parks,” says Kyle Fawcett, Minister of Environment and Sustainable Resource Development.
Reservations can also be made through the Call Centre at 1-877-537-2757 for Group Camping.
This summer marks the reopening of Wyndam-Carseland Provincial Park, which was severely damaged by the 2013 flood. The park is on the Reserve.AlbertaParks.ca system and about half of its 180 campsites can be reserved.
In addition, the offering of Comfort Camping units has increased to 29 this season, including five new units in Sir Winston Churchill Provincial Park. All Comfort units can also be booked online.
For all things Alberta Parks, campers can visit AlbertaParks.ca to find a list of provincial campgrounds, provincial recreation areas, day-use areas plus park amenities and much more.
