Edmonton Farmfair
Edmonton Farm Fair
On November 5th through November 13th, 2011, The Edmonton Expo Centre hosts the Edmonton Livestock Farmfair - an event that's become a top business destination for the international livestock industry. This will be the 35th year running that Farmfair will showcase more than 1000 head of cattle, 800 horses, alpacas and stock dogs that exhibitors bring in from all over the place. The week-long event features cattle and horse events, world-class equine sales and auctions, horse and cattle show competitions, and educational clinics. In addition, there are plenty of events and clinics for teens and kids. It’s an excellent family event.
As well as the stock competitions and sales, there are stock dog trials, team penning competitions, the Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR), the Team Roping Competition, Beef Breeder Display, Supreme Display of Champions, Purebred shows, exhibitions, fine food and excellent entertainment.
The top working ranch horses from western Canada, four years and older, will compete in the Ranch Horse Competition for cash prizes, a Champion Buckle and the title of Ranch Horse Champion. Northern Bloodstock, The Canadian Supreme, and The Alberta Quarter Horse Breeders Group have joined forces to gather bloodstock from across Canada for a new performance horse auction to be held on Thursday November 10. The expo will also feature horses in the Heritage Ranch Rodeo that will take place Sunday, November 6 to Tuesday, November 8.
In conjunction with the team at Northlands, this industry initiative capitalizes on the growing number of ranch, rodeo and performance horse enthusiasts that visit Northlands each year for Farmfair and the Canadian Finals Rodeo.
Also this year, in a unique collaboration between the Northlands Farmfair, Olds Fall Classic and Lloydminster Stockade Round-Up, the three organizations will co-host the Alberta Supreme Championship, where the provincial champions will be decided. This intense and often dramatic event typically attracts top quality purebred cattle from across Western Canada,” says Richard L. Andersen, President and Chief Executive Officer of Northlands. “As one of Canada’s largest and oldest established agricultural societies, Northlands is proud to host a show that will increase the exposure of all three successful events.”
