Algonquin Provincial Park
Algonquin Provincial Park is one of the most famous parks in Ontario and it is an enchanting place to visit in the winter. Algonquin offers many winter activities for visitors including wildlife viewing, dog sledding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hiking, and more. The park is only a three-hour drive from Toronto Camping and camping is available at Mew Lake Campground on a first-come-first-serve basis, with yurts and sites 1-33 reservable year round. 1.888.668.7275

Arrowhead Provincial Park
Located north of Huntsville, Ontario, just under three hours drive from Toronto, this winter escape is famous for its 1.3 kilometres (.81 mi) man-made skating trail that winds through the forest. Arrowhead also offers many other winter activities such as tubing, snow-shoeing, and skiing. During the winter months, Arrowhead rents out wooden cabins for guests enjoy. A portion of the shoreline of Glacial Lake Algonquin is visible in the park. 705.789.5105

MacGregor Point
Just three hours outside of Toronto, you will find MacGregor Point. This park is one of the most ecologically diverse places along the Lake Huron shoreline. A complex ecosystem unfolds at this all-season park on a seven-kilometre stretch of coast, just south of Port Elgin. Visitors can enjoy snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and skating at their 400-metre skating oval (weather permitting). 519.389.9056

Frontenac Provincial Park is open year-round for four season backcountry recreation with 48 interior campsites. With beautiful paths and wooden walkways and trails, this is the type of forest you want to get lost in. Spots are available at a first come first serve basis year-round. Killarney
Killarney may be the farthest away from Toronto, at four and a half hours, but the road trip is a great part of the journey.
