S01 E35 - Classy Coaches for 2023 - American Coach & Fleetwood RV Design for Your Work/Life Balance
Fleetwood RV
The Fleetwood RV Frontier GTX 37RT and 39TA Class A are two new diesel models for casual RV travel and southbound snowbird trips.
Words by Steve Fennell
What’s significant about the 2022/2023 RV model year is many manufacturers are not only designing floorplans with stylish appointments and innovative tech but are ramping up overall function for outdoor and indoor living. As lifestyles change on the road, it’s only practical that the RVs they travel in change as well.
This is just one of the focuses of select models from REV Group’s recreation division, which includes American Coach, Fleetwood RV, Holiday Rambler, Lance, Midwest Automotive Designs, and Renegade RVs. With new models coming soon to dealers, there are a number of developments in its American Coach and Fleetwood class A lines.
American Coach
What RV dreams are pretty much made of - the interior of the new American Eagle 45 E from American Coach.

Building on its flagship American Eagle luxury class A, American Coach announced the new American Eagle 45E.
“The American Eagle 45E floorplan is unique, especially for snowbirds who spend time down south for months at a time,” says Doug Miller, product manager for REV Recreation Group’s Class A products. “There’s plenty of space with sofas upfront, a fully-appointed kitchen plus a 1.5 bath. It truly lends itself to snowbirds who enjoy resort-style RV living.”
First-Class Living on the Road
With a length of about 13 m (44.11 ft) and width of 3 m (8.5 ft), the 45E is a four-slide dream coach. It’s designed to hit the road in style and be enjoyed to the fullest extent once at a southern destination. But what makes it very unique is the interior’s styling and residential atmosphere.
One of the thoughtfully-designed spaces is the kitchen. Islands are not new in coaches but the one in the 45E is topped with quality-set Cambria quartz and houses a recessed two-burner induction cooktop and wine chiller. A bar-style dinette with a large picture window is housed on one side while a residential-size sink, solid-surface countertop, dishwasher, and large stainless steel refrigerator are located on the other. Both are housed in automatic slides.

Fine appointments are found throughout the 45 E.
Just further forward is a sleeper sofa that conceals a full-size mattress and more comfort is found on the oversized power motion lounge, just opposite. Both provide unobstructed viewing for the 4K Televator LED TV. A pair of plush swivel captain's chairs also pull double-duty to provide added seating space at rest.
Other true residential appointments include heated porcelain flooring, solid wood cabinetry and four-panel solid wood doors. The Aqua-Hot 600 D tankless water heater even offers hot water on demand - just like home.

Luxury appointments continue with a lavatory featuring a porcelain toilet and sink, which leads to the master suite. Complete with a 1.5 bath highlighting a floor-to-ceiling tiled shower and dual vanities, the master suite offers ample storage, a king-size memory foam mattress, and a 4K smart TV.
“We want RVers to feel at home on the road and we have achieved that with these appointments,” says Miller. “The island floorplan lends a residential feel and the layout creates different zones of living.”
Fleetwood RV
Optimal comfort is found on the centrally located ‘north/south’ bed in Fleetwood RV’s GTX 37RT.
Fleetwood RV Frontier GTX 37RT/39TA
These are two new diesel options and both offer very unique designs for casual RV travel in the summer or extended trips southbound in the winter.
“The new floorplans in the Frontier GTX series are a more flexible type of coach,” says Miller. “They are configured for snowbirds but they can also access more destinations for weekend RVers through the summer.”
Destinies Unbound: GTX 37RT
A three-slide coach, the 37RT’s Freightliner chassis with a Cummins 6.7L 360 hp engine is designed to deliver smooth, reliable runs. It also offers pass-through basement storage, a 4,536 kg (10,000 lb) towing capacity, an 8.0 KW Onan generator and 100-gallon fuel and freshwater tanks.
On top of this foundation is an interior that meets the need of the current travel trends. Remote working and online classes (or homeschooling) have been game-changers for RV designs and as a result, Fleetwood configured what they coined ‘The Corner Office’ at the rear of the coach.

Working remote? The GTX 37RT’s designated office space.
Located in the partial area of the wardrobe just off the master stateroom, the office serves as a real functional workspace. It’s conveniently separated from the rest of the interior by a set of glass doors and includes:
- An L-shaped desk
- Multiple power/USB outlets
- A large window for natural light
- Storage drawers/cabinets
- An optional wall-mounted monitor, WiFi Ranger, Sky4 ProPack and weBoost Cell Booster are available.
When school is out or work meetings are over, downtime can be spent at the ‘Dream Dinette’ (that converts from a table to a bed) or in the fully-equipped kitchen. It comes standard with a residential-sized refrigerator, induction cooktop, convection microwave and solid surface countertops (that are also in the lavatories and living area). A standard queen sleeper sofa, which can be upgraded to two power motion loungers, is also included.
After night falls, the master bedroom has a king-size mattress to offer a good night’s rest and the deluxe wardrobe closet houses a pull-out hamper, dresser, overhead shelf storage, and numerous drawers. A side-by-side washer/dryer and Hide-A-Loft drop-down bed are additional options to consider.

Both the 37RT and 39TA have functional kitchens with clean designs.
More Room for More Travel: GTX 39TA
The 39TA has a length of 12 m (39 ft) and shares many of the standards as the 37RT. However, it has two slides that conveniently open up on the driver’s side, allowing you to park accordingly in tight campsites and enjoy an unobstructed outdoor living area.
Since the two slides extend other living spaces, Fleetwood designers were free to place a north/south-facing queen bed in the centre of the master bedroom. What this means is it can be conveniently used to rest during travel, unlike other designs where the slide needs to be extended. A drop-down LED TV from the ceiling, a headboard and private access to a half-bath are other notable appointments.
A full bath, located in the living area, is designated for family members or guests, thus eliminating traffic and offering privacy for those in the master. A multi-purpose Adap-table Dinette serves as a convenient workstation or breakfast bar and like the 37RT, it sports a flush floor throughout, polished porcelain tile flooring, and all-electric appliances with a glass tile backsplash in the kitchen.
“This is a unique floorplan and the north/south bed configuration hasn’t been done in a class A diesel for a long time and it’s not an option in a lot of coaches,” says Miller. “We always make efforts to find new ways to maintain the interest level and successfully innovate with new concepts throughout the year.”
