Can the pricing on new RV's get any lower? This is a question that the staff and management at Voyager RV have been asking themselves, while the new 2013 models have been arriving almost daily during the past 6 months. "It seems every time we order a new RV model, or give a quote to potential customers, the numbers always seem to come up much lower than in recent memory", explains Jason Friesen, Vice President of Voyager RV. "We've really stepped up our RV ordering this winter for this upcoming season. Part of that has to do with the positive outlook for the RV market in British Columbia and a big part of it has to do with the price offerings that our manufacturers have come up with for this 2013 model year".
The number of RV units sold was up 13 per cent nationally in the first six months of 2012 compared with the same period in 2011, said Go RVing Canada. The main reason for the climb is the fact that RV prices are at historic lows, said spokesperson Emily Reid.
Friesen says that because of his dealership's volume purchasing, Keystone Springdale and Fuzion, Dutchmen Denali, Winnebago Industries and all Jayco lines have offered particularly deep discounts. "It's especially great for a company like Jayco, who have been the top selling RV brand for 8 years running due to their quality and value. With their aggressive price offerings this year, we are seeing new 2013 Jay Flight trailers hitting the ground from $11,900, and new Jayco Redhawk Class C motorhomes with slides for $68,000."
Friesen believes a potential downfall of this inexpensive pricing structure they've adopted on new RVs is that it may adversely affect the used RV market, "The RV consumer may be unwilling to buy a used RV, because they can now buy a new RV at basically a used price point".
Friesen and his management team have adopted a 'right-pricing' strategy for their 2013 RV models in order to maximize the discounts to consumers. "We are excited to be able to offer these deals,” explains Friesen. "The manufacturers that we're lucky enough to partner with have passed along some great savings to us, and with the strong Canadian dollar, our RV’s are crossing the border at the lowest prices ever... it's the right decision to just pass these savings on straight to the customer."
