There’s still time to reserve your spot at Texas campgrounds for the holiday season and the winter months. Don’t miss the chance to enjoy a memorable camping experience during this special time of year.
“Several Texas campgrounds and RV parks are telling us they still have open spots for the holidays and even during the popular winter season, but the time to book is now,” said Brian Schaeffer, executive director and CEO of the Texas Association of Campground Owners (TACO), which hosts travel planning websites at TexasCampgrounds.com and TexasGlampingResorts.com.
“Unlike most campgrounds Up North, private parks in Texas are open during the winter months, and the further south you go, the warmer it gets,” Schaeffer said. Here is a sampling of campgrounds across Texas that still have available RV sites through the holidays and into the winter camping season:
— Ennis Luxury RV Resort in Ennis: This new resort offers swimming, a club house, a dog park, as well as dry cleaning, mobile RV wash, and massage services. The park is also only1,100 feet from a Buc-ee’s location.
— Great Escapes RV Resorts: Great Escapes is an expanding network of family friendly camping, glamping and RV destinations in Texas with resort-style swimming pools, organized activities, sports courts, as well as fitness, private event centers and dogparks. Great Escapes currently has RV resorts in Bryan, Cedar Creek and Perrin, some of which have unique amenities. The Bryan location complements its resort-style pool with a floating obstacle course, and wet and wild hayrides. The Perrin location has a floating obstacle course, three swimming pools, a splash pad, and wet and wild wagon rides. Great Escapes is also building four more resorts in Texas, including one in Elgin, two in Austin and one in San Antonio.
— Oakdale RV Resort & Motor Court in Glen Rose: This park, which features RV and tent sites as well as rental accommodations, opened in 1925 as a campground and motor court, built around the 330,000-gallon Oakdale Plunge, the largest swimming pool in Texas at that time, according to the park’s owners. Oakdale is one of only a handful of private RV parks in the country listed on the National Register of Historic Places. A historic dance hall building with enough tables and chairs to seat up to 400 people is used for family reunions, weddings, quinceañeras, RV rallies, music concerts, and dances. Plans are in the works for regularly scheduled dances and an occasional roller-skating return to celebrate the park’s 100th anniversary in 2025. Park amenities include a fire pit, an outdoor stage, a grill by the swimming pool and a dog park.
— Pioneer Beach RV Resort in Port Aransas: This park features RV sites and cabins. Amenities include two swimming pools, a hot tub, a recreation hall and game room, a dog run, a birding pond with ducks, spoonbills, and cranes, and a private boardwalk to the beach.
— Trader's Village RV Park in Houston: This big rig-friendly park has level concrete pads and is adjacent to Trader’s Village, which features weekend flea markets, shopping, rides and special events. Park amenities include a swimming pool, restrooms and showers, laundry facilities, a recreation hall, an ATM, and propane service.
— Twisted Parrot Luxury RV Resort in Montgomery: This RV resort offers RV sites and luxury RV rentals, as well as special access to Margaritaville Lake Resort Lake Conroe. Guests can elevate their stay with day passes that unlock a host of extraordinary amenities—from thrilling water slides at an expansive water park to relaxing at the swim-up bar and playing mini-golf and enjoying five top-rated onsite restaurants. Tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts are also available.
— The Vineyards Campground and Cabins in Grapevine: This campground occupies 52 acres of an 850-acre, mostly wooded scenic area encircling Grapevine Lake. The park offers RV sites with concrete pads as well as furnished cabins. Amenities include cable television and upgraded Wi-Fi service and a pavilion as well as kayak and bicycle rentals.

— Woodland Lakes RV Park in Conroe: This park can accommodate RVs up to 45 feet in length. Park amenities include an exercise room and several ponds that are home to black bellied whistle ducks, turtles, fish and other types of birds.
Schaeffer noted that companies like Malakoff-based Platinum Cottages are also supplying Texas campgrounds with fully furnished park-model-style cabins and cottages with separate bedrooms, kitchens and bathrooms. Based in Crowley, the Texas Association of Campground Owners is the trade association that represents campgrounds, RV parks and resorts across the Lone Star State.
