Story By Courtney Russett Photos by Jeff Allen of Fat Kid Photography
On July 28th the Barnhartvale Community Association partnered up with Rivershore Ram to host the first annual Take Your Top Off for Tata’s Charity 4X4 Event in support of the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation. The event consisted of two separate trail rides, a stocker friendly 4X4 run and a more leisurely Sunday drive through the hills of Kamloops, BC. The 4X4 ride offered some breathtaking scenery and some fun mud holes. The more leisurely ride went through ranch lands and had one climb up to “The Pinnacle”, an awe inspiring cliff offering a view of the entire valley. The trail rides were followed by a BBQ lunch, silent auction, and Show N’ Grime. The Show N’ Grime had 3 categories, Breast in Show, Dirtiest Ride, and Biggest Rack with the top Prize going to a 1948 CJ-2A. The event brought together 40 off-roaders, mostly Jeeps but there were a few others in the mix including a Toyota Rock Crawler, Dodge Power Wagon, and one lone Commander ATV. Just over $2000 was donated to the Canadian Breast Cancer Foundation and organizers are already planning next year’s event. Details can be found at www.takeyourtopoff.ca.
