The Alert Bay 360 is an eco-tourism based event which encourages a healthy lifestyle, and helps our local businesses. This is an event which showcases not only Cormorant Island and those who live here, but also the culture and the many wonders found on Northern Vancouver Island, including the Broughton Archipelago.
Each year the Alert Bay 360 limits registration to 200 vessels. Click here to register.
The registration fee is used to help purchase some of the incredible prizes which are given away by random draw at the awards ceremony. All you need to do is finish the race and your number will be entered in the random draws.
We have thousands of dollars in prizes, including First Nation art work and carvings. Previously, we gave away a 4 foot exquisitely carved totem pole, as well as masks, plaques, camping equipment, paddling equipment, resort stays, BC Ferries passes, cash, and more!
Additionally, every year we award cash prizes to the top 3 male and female finishers in a single kayak. First place $500, second place $250, and third place $100.
Surprise Prize
This year we have a surprise prize! Each year we have noticed more and more double kayaks participating in the event. So, we have decided to award $500 to the first place finishers who are in a double kayak. (No second or third prizes will be awarded).
But, you know what, it’s really not all about winning. It’s all about PARTICIPATION. So, come and relax, take in the sights, and watch for the humpback whale. One year there was a grey whale leisurely foraging in the kelp bed during the race, and a slight detour had to be made. After all, we didn’t want to disturb her lunch!
