The sprawling and often rugged expanse of Northern British Columbia comprises more than half of the entire province: roughly 500,000km sq/193,051mi sq; an area larger than California or Japan and two times as large as the United Kingdom.
Northern BC reaches 1,000km/621mi from east to west, and follows the legendary and historic Yellowhead Highway. It is framed by jagged mountain peaks, roaring rivers, lush valleys, ragged coastlines and ancient island archipelagos.
