Always have confidence in your Fly

Today we present you with a tip, one that holds true in all avenues of fly fishing, that we think separates successful anglers from, well, not so successful anglers.
No matter what you’re fishing for, whether your drifting, stripping, swinging, skating, or popping flies, in either freshwater or saltwater, always have confidence in the fly you’re fishing.
More often than not, targeting fishy water effectively is all an angler can ask for in order to be successful. Makes sense right? However, in order to fish your fly most effectively, its crucial that you give it the utmost attention throughout its entire drift, swing, or presentation. Thus, doubting your fly choice only leads to a half hearted retrieve or presentation, even if unconsciously. Trust us on this one, we see it a lot.
Therefore, no matter how ridiculous the fly at hand may seem, if it was worth tying on, fish it with confidence!
Take the fly above as a prime example. Recognize it? Probably not. That’s because it is a one of a kind, late night creation constructed by a guest or ours with errant discarded materials, one of which included, wait for it, a chocolate bar wrapper. Looks pretty ridiculous, right? We couldn’t agree more.. But that didn’t stop our friends Ross and Teri Beatty from feeding it to a chunky silver salmon. Yes, really.
Maybe that’s more of a testament to the extreme willingness of our chaotic run of silver salmon of Alaska West, but you get the point. Always have confidence in your fly. You never know what might happen.
